Building a more strategic approach to co-production

Project Background

Cartrefi Cymru Co-operative is a large multi-stakeholder co-operative operating across Wales, delivering supported living and domiciliary care services to adults with learning disabilities. As a values-driven organisation, the voice and choices of the people Cartrefi support are central to their governance and operations, and co-production is embedded throughout their work. Instead of traditional day services, Cartrefi deliver activities that are driven by the voices of local cooperatives.

The project with IMPACT will identify a methodology for this approach, helping to achieve a consistent co-production offer across Wales that is embedded throughout the organisation, and supporting Cartrefi to promote their approach and vision with all stakeholders.

Meet Our Demonstrators: Soracha Cashman and Mark John-Williams

Soracha Cashman

I am a cognitive neuropsychologist by training and have a background consulting in the voluntary sector and the private care sector. I’m based Eryri (Snowdonia) in North Wales. I’m Irish and have lived in Wales for about 25 years. I previously worked with IMPACT in Gwynedd, North Wales, delivering Demonstrator projects focused on ‘supporting the embedding of a new model of Home Care’ across the county, and on boosting employment for people with learning disabilities.

Mark John-Williams

I have a long-standing career in social care and community development, going back to the mid 1980s. I also have lived experience, being the brother to someone with Down’s syndrome who lives his best life. I have been a trainer and consultant in strengths-based and community-focused approaches for 20 years and live in North-East Wales, close to the border with Chester.
